“LÍDER DEL DERECHO”
1ST EDITION (2024)

At PAGMA LAW, we are committed to the development and support of the legal community in Puerto Rico. We firmly believe in the importance of fostering leadership and academic excellence among future legal professionals. For this reason, we are pleased to offer the "Líder del Derecho" scholarship, which aims not only to alleviate the financial burden of students committed to their legal education but also to promote their active participation in community initiatives. This scholarship reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting and strengthening the social and legal fabric of our island.

Eligibility

The scholarship will be available to one student from any law school in Puerto Rico who is enrolled in the Juris Doctor program for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Amount and Distribution

The scholarship is valued at $1,500. It constitutes supplementary financial aid and does not cover the total cost of the study program. Only one (1) scholarship will be awarded, and the amount will be limited to the amount specified here.

Requirements

 

  • ​Be a law student at a Law School in Puerto Rico, enrolled in the Juris Doctor program for the academic year 2024-2025.

​

  • The application is open to students with full-time or part-time academic loads.

​

  • Demonstrate financial need.

​

  • Demonstrate a history of community commitment and leadership.

​

Application Process*

Applicants must complete the application in full and submit the following information and/or documents in PDF format to the following email address: liderdelderecho@pagmalaw.com

 

  • Full name; email address; phone number; mailing address; Law School affiliation; current academic year.

​

  • Proof of enrollment for the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025.

​

  • An essay detailing your leadership in the community, the importance of the scholarship for your academic goals, why it is relevant to you, and how studying law will enable you to continue supporting the community.

​

  • A letter of recommendation from a professor, community leader, or legal professional, explaining why you are the ideal candidate for the scholarship, considering its purpose and nature.

​

  • Resume and/or Curriculum Vitae including details of your participation in community service activities (e.g., involvement in community organizations, student activities, civic or religious events, social impact projects, among others).

​

  • Proof demonstrating your financial need (e.g., official certification of eligibility for financial assistance, letter of financial aid offer, or any other official document issued by your Law School and/or academic institution for this purpose).

Deadline

Applications must be completed and submitted to:

 

liderdelderecho@pagmalaw.com on or before 11:59 pm on Monday, August 12, 2024. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will also be rejected.

 

While the deadline will not be shortened, it may be extended as needed depending on the volume of applications received and to ensure as many applications as possible are received.

Evaluation Process

The evaluation process will be carried out by an Evaluation Committee appointed by PAGMA LAW. The final decision will be communicated to all applicants after the evaluation process is completed and the winning candidate has been selected.

Recommendations*

 

Application Completeness:

Ensure you complete the application in full and attach all required documents in PDF format. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

 

Strict Deadline:

The deadline to submit applications is Monday, August 12, 2024, on or before 11:59 pm. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances, unless extended through an official announcement.

Required Documentation:

Verify that all attached documents are clear and legible. Incomplete or illegible documentation could negatively affect the evaluation of your application.

 

Verification of Provided Information and/or Documentation:

All information and/or documentation provided by you as part of your application must be verifiable. If deemed necessary, the Evaluation Committee could make any effort to verify the accuracy of the information and/or documentation submitted.
